It conducts astronomical observations\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0infrared wavelength. This talk will briefly discuss this engineering marvel, its design, various scientific instruments, and its amazing capabilities. I will also discuss\u00a0the\u00a0major science themes of\u00a0the\u00a0mission,\u00a0the\u00a0astrophysical importance of\u00a0the\u00a0first images released by JWST, what they tell us about its performance\u00a0so\u00a0far and what to expect\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0coming months and years with JWST.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Short-bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jessy Jose is an Associate Professor, Physics at IISER Tirupati. She obtained her PhD from Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital, and subsequently held post-doctoral positions at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, and Kavli Institute for Astronomy &amp; Astrophysics, Beijing. In 2017, She joined the faculty of IISER Tirupati.
