AstroBioLab (Sunil Kumar)

Our research group focuses on laboratory astrophysics, astrochemistry, and molecular biophysics. We use multipole radiofrequency ion trapping technique to determine the absolute values of cross sections of photon-induced gas-phase processes involving molecular ions of astrophysical and biological interest and rate coefficients of gas-phase reactions of astrophysical relevance.

Condensed Matter Theory (Sasmita Mohakud)

We study the ground state, low energy, thermodynamic properties and phase transition of quantum and frustrated spin systems. Furthermore, we try to understand the magnetization dynamics, coercive mechanisms in permanent magnets. We also focus on the charge transport mechanism, structural and electronic properties of organic and intercalated organic materials.

Observational Astronomy : Star and Planet Formation (Jessy Jose)

The main focus of our group is to study the impact of various environmental conditions including stellar feedback and metallicity on star and planet formation process. We use national and international multi-wavelength observational facilities to carry out our research activities.

Experimental High Energy Physics Group (Chitrasen Jena)

Our group focuses broadly on studying the phase diagram of Quantum ChromoDynamics (QCD), various signatures of Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) and understanding the particle production mechanism in high-energy nuclear collisions. We are also involved in direct dark matter detection experiment.

Galactic Dynamics (Arunima Banerjee)

We focus on modelling the structure and dynamics of galaxies and their dark matter halos using HI 21 cm radio-synthesis observations with an emphasis on dwarf-irregulars and low surface brightness galaxies.

Remote sensing of cloud and precipitation (Sai Kranthi)

Our group is interested in clouds and precipitation studies using profilers, disdrometer, and space-borne instruments. Specific areas of research are: Characterization of precipitating systems from space-borne instruments (Active and Passive remote sensing); Validating space borne radars and improving their measurements accuracies; and Cloud and precipitation microphysics

Organometallics & Sustainable Catalysis (Ekambaram Balaraman)

At the present scenario, the chemical industry is a key constituent of the Indian economy, accounting for about 1.38% of the nation’s GDP. Catalytic processes are preliminarily involved in the synthesis of 80% of all industrially produced chemicals. In view of this, design and development of innovative new catalytic systems has clear, direct and long-term… Continue reading Organometallics & Sustainable Catalysis (Ekambaram Balaraman)
