Abstract:

Galois Theory laid the theoretical foundations for solving equations by way of understanding certain groups called Galois groups. There are still many open questions related to understanding these groups for the field of rational numbers and tackling these questions has led to important developments in Mathematics for over a millennium. This talk will provide a glimpse of the known and the unknown, as related to Number Theory.
