Title : Up above the world so high, Like A Diamond In The Sky – The James Webb Space Telescope.
Speaker : Dr. Jessy Jose, IISER Tirupati.
Date : 08/09/2022, 05:30 PM , Ramanujan Hall.
Abstract:
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is the most powerful and sensitive telescope in space to date. It conducts astronomical observations in the infrared wavelength. This talk will briefly discuss this engineering marvel, its design, various scientific instruments, and its amazing capabilities. I will also discuss the major science themes of the mission, the astrophysical importance of the first images released by JWST, what they tell us about its performance so far and what to expect in the coming months and years with JWST.
